Very pleased with Sirius six volume hardcover box set
This Sirius six volume hardcover box set is a beautiful collection, with individual volumes of a comfortable size for reading. Hard cloth covers are firm and seem durable. Binding is tight. Printing is compact but cleanly executed in an easily readable typeface. In my set, the only flaw was a half dozen leaves that were cut slightly skewed to the printing, but text did not run off the page even then. Mercifully, these books are free of the scanning and OCR errors that increasingly plague other collections. I have not observed a single error in the printed text. Each volume includes a table of contents and an introduction, with only the last couple paragraphs being unique and specific to the stories in that volume. I list below the six volumes in the set (volumes are not numbered), with the last numbered page in each book and a list of the stories included. The Call of Cthulhu and Other Stories (224 pages)The Nameless City * Herbert West—Reanimator * The Hound * The Lurking Fear * The Rats in the Walls * The Festival * The Shunned House * The Horror at Red Hook * He * The Call of Cthulhu * The History of the NecronomiconAt the Mountains of Madness and Other Stories (224 pages)At the Mountains of Madness * The Shadow over Innsmouth * The Thing on the DoorstepThe Dunwich Horror and Other Stories (237 pages)The Dunwich Horror * The Whisperer in Darkness * The Shadow Out of Time * The Haunter of the DarkMacabre Stories (158 pages)The Tomb * Dagon * A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson * Sweet Ermengarde or, The Heart of a Country Girl * Memory * Old Bugs * The Transition of Juan Romero * The Terrible Old Man * The Temple * Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and his Family * The Street * The Picture in the House * The Tree * The Music of Erich Zana * In the Vault * The Very Old Folk * The Evil Clergyman * The Book * IbidStories of the Dreamlands (367 pages)Polaris * Beyond the Wall of Sleep * The White Ship * The Doom that Came to Sarnath * The Cats of Ulthar * Celephaïs * From Beyond * Nyarlathotep * Ex Oblivione * The Quest of Iranon * The Moon-Bog * The Outsider * The Other Gods * Hypnos * What the Moon Brings * Azathoth * The Descendant * Cool Air * Pickman’s Model * The Strange High House in the Mist * The Color Out of Space * The Dreams in the Witch House * The Case of Charles Dexter WardThe Randolph Carter Tales (192 pages)The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath * The Statement of Randolph Carter * The Silver Key * Through the Gates of the Silver Key * The Unnamable

Beautiful Books
If you’re looking for a literary review, I haven’t read all of Lovecraft’s works, so don’t expect that here. There are plenty of other Amazon (and other) reviews regarding his literature out there. I’m purely talking about the physical books’ quality, size, etc., NOT Lovecraft’s writing. Also daily reminder that HP Lovecraft was a terribly racist man, even if he had interesting writing. In terms of the books, they’re gorgeous! The covers are so awesome and have this neat almost embossed effect between the matte “fabric” of the cover and the glossiness of the metallic lettering. The type is a nice size; it’s very readable, though the margins are a little tight (kinda close to mass-market paperback margins, though the books feel nothing like one). The organization of the stories (as a “casual” Lovecraft reader) makes sense to me, with most of the books following a chronological story, and one of them basically being “everything else that didn’t fit in the other books” like his one-off short stories. Each book also comes with a relatively brief foreword giving some context to Lovecraft’s life, the mythos, and other contemporary knowledge. I hear this is an incomplete collection, largely missing his uncredited and early works, but I feel like the stories that are here are the real “meat and potatoes” Lovecraft. Nothing major is missing here. The books are pretty small, a bit bigger than a handbook or pocketbook perhaps, which is perfect for storing in a purse or bag for easy reading. The paper itself also feels like nice quality and not like it’s going to tear or fall apart under use or notation.Since it all comes in a very attractive box set, it also looks great on a shelf with the rest of my books! Overall, I’d definitely order some like these again for a friend interested in Lovecraft who doesn’t mind a technically incomplete set and the smaller margins.

Beautiful, Small Books
This is a lovely collection of books. They are bound nicely with cloth covered board covers. The print is on the small side, though, so if you’re an old head like me be sure you have a good set of reading glasses handy.
