Great Value Sushi Rice – Perfect for Home Sushi Nights
I bought this 5kg bag of Emma Basic Koshi Sushi Rice for a few homemade sushi nights, and it’s been a great choice overall.Pros:Great texture: The rice cooks up nice and sticky, just like you want for sushi. It holds together well without being too mushy.Good quality: It’s consistent in texture and flavour—perfect for sushi or even just rice bowls and side dishes.Large quantity: The 5kg bag lasts a while, which is great if you make sushi often or need rice for big meals.Affordable: For the quality and quantity, this is a pretty budget-friendly option compared to other sushi rice brands.Cons:Takes some practice: Like any sushi rice, you’ll need to get the cooking technique right (soaking, rinsing, etc.) to get the perfect results. Not pre-seasoned: Some might prefer rice that’s already seasoned with vinegar, sugar, and salt, but that’s easy to do yourself.Overall, a solid, reliable sushi rice that delivers on both quality and value. Great for anyone who makes sushi at home regularly!

High quality Sushi rice
The sushi rice is of high quality, offered at a reasonable price. The packaging is straightforward but elegant. I will definitely purchase it again and have already recommended it to my friends.

Good value for the quality
First time to try this brand but their description is correct, it’s a fairly balanced rice - soft enough meanwhile still sharp clear texture. Fairly value for money choice! (I don’t like they generalised rice in other countries though…

Even my picky Korean hubby approves
I tried different products from this shop, and everything is excellent.

Not great
It stinks when cooked which is bizarre. Definitely inferior to Toyama or other leading Koshihikari brands. Price is good but it’s not great rice at all.Convinced it’s rancid. Made my whole place stink of plastic, old corn and chemicals

Emma Basic Sushi Rice - Disappointing Quality
I’m really disappointed with the Emma Basic Sushi Rice. It has no aroma, tastes bland, and lacks the subtle sweetness you’d expect from proper sushi rice. The texture is off—it's not sticky enough to bind well for sushi rolls, making it frustrating to work with. The package size is decent, but given the lack of quality, it feels like poor value for money. It simply doesn't deliver on functionality or flavour. I won’t be using this again and wouldn’t recommend it for sushi-making.
