NETGEAR Orbi Home Mesh WiFi System (RBK50) (Renewed)

I initially bought MeshForce M1 because it was inexpensive. It was easy to install and was straight forward to set up like the eero I bought for the office however, the WiFi speed does not go over 80-85 mbps. This was a no-go for me since I have 400mbps speeds. I will not sacrifice speed over coverage. So off it went and decided to pay more for an Orbi RBK50. Set up is as straight forward however, much slower to set-up. It probably took over 5+ minutes for both to complete the set-up. 5+ minutes is not a lot of time but Im comparing this to eero's set up which took less than 2 minutes to set up 3 wifi pods. Orbi's app is not as instantaneous as eero & mehforce. However, one can just let it go for the amount of features this Orbi offers.The RBK50's router and satellite offers additional ethernet port which is an advantage over many router/mesh systems. This is a big plus for me because I run my gaming desktop, apple tv, and my samsung tv off a Lan cable to minimize disruption.The router and satellite offers a very wide signal coverage up to 5,000 sq/feet. Now, my ring doorbell's performance has significantly improved since installing Orbi.Now, my WiFi speed shows 380-420 mbps all over the house now, there is no deadspots in the backyard or the garage. I love it. If ever I want to increase the coverage area, I would just purchase another satellite RBK50.Top notch product. Highly recommended. I did buy a renewed version, it came in a plain brown box but the product looked brand new. Win win for me!

I installed an Orbi mesh system with a router and a satellite in my 3 story 3000sf wood frame stand alone home. The source of my internet is a Verizon router running FIOS. I disabled the wireless transmitting on the FIOS router and use the Orby mesh system for wifi. I have a full signal throughout my home. I do have one corner of the upstairs where I only receive 4 bars vs 5 bars but I believe if I fooled with the placement of the satellite transmitter I could get 5 bars throughout. Speeds are good. I even get service across my small 1/4 acre city lot. I have a smart device in my crawl space that monitors the plumbing and it gets a good signal. So, it works well. Set up is dependant upon the Orby app. I have terrible wireless service at my home. So I had to go find a signal to download the app. Make sure you have the app installed on your phone or tablet before installing the Orby Mesh system. Set up was easy, the app is logical and easy to use. I have had no problems to date. The primary Orby router is in a closet. The satellite is in a laundry room.

I bought this due to my nighthawk not quite pushing the wireless as far as I needed it to go. Needless to say, the Orbi pushes well beyond the nighthawk due to the satellite unit. I have a consistent 400mbps all over my house and in my garage. My yard is also covered for the most part. My house is around 2600sqft and I do not have a single dead spot. I highly recommend this product for the price. The setup is very easy, you download the app and just follow onscreen instructions. If you have cable, you will need to restart your modem after connecting the Orbi. Name your wifi the same as your previous wifi name and all of your devices will connect again.The only con that I see is not being able to split the 2.4 and 5g network. However, the Orbi does an excellent job of detecting which network you need to be on so there isn't really a need for it.AWESOME setup.

This review is for the refubished unit.The device is working well- easy to install, app is functional though lacking. Web interface on the router it better but not as functional as I would like. (I am an IT professional so most home users will never see an issue.)I have some advanced needs which have been tough to setup with this device. It is just not setup to handle the needs beyond the average home user.Be warned- keep your receipt. I contacted tech support and they required me to prove that I had recently purchased the device. The "refurbish" process does not update Netgear.Speed is excellent. I'm in an average split level house. The router is downstairs in a far corner of the house. The satellite is upstairs in the middle of the house. My iPad through multiple walls but relatively close to the satellite is showing 120Mbps download and 75Mbps upload (full internet speed).

Wow! I had NO idea of the capability of my WiFi speed until I ditched my old router and installed Netgear Orbi! We thought we needed to change ISPs, but this completely changed our plans! We have been told that even our ZOOM meetings are clearer, crisper, and have better, cleaner sound! We no longer have to worry about dropping signal as we move throughout our home! It took about 7-10 minutes to install, and was immediately up and running after that! The App is amazing as well! You don’t have to sign up for them to track your every move as well (like some of the other mesh network providers) which is a plus as well! The main router and one additional satellite works well for the size of our home (4000+ SF) with about 13-14 connected devices, and they all work seamlessly and fast! We definitely recommend this product to anyone who would like to get the full experience from their internet service provider!
